Robin Aly is a PhD student at the Database Group of the University of Twente, faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science.

After finishing his German Diplom (equiv. MSc) in Information Systems, at the University of Mannheim in 2005, he started a research assistant at the University of Frankfurt.

One year later he changed to the Database group at the University of Twente. His promotors are Peter Apers and Franciska de Jong. His daily supervisors are Djoerd Hiemstra and Roeland Ordelman.

In summer 2009 he spent 3 month as a visiting researcher at the CLARITY group of the Dublin City University supervised by Prof. Alan Smeaton.
