Weed classification

In order to improve the quality of the compost, weed classification is carried out during the green wastes composting. There are two green waste dumps. The left dump is used for collecting the compostable green wastes. The right dump is used for collecting the green wastes which are not suitable for composting (uncompostable). Be aware, the right dump is only suitable for small quantities of uncompostable green wastes. For large amount of uncompostable green wastes (for example full wheelbarrow of wastes), separate collection sites is assigned.

The compostable and uncompostable green wastes are listed in the following form. Please read it carefully and keep the names in mind.

Remember, we will get high quality compost only if everyone sticks to the rules.

Compostable green wastes

-Leaves of Vegetable such as lettuce, endive and chicory
-Leeks, onions, carrots and beet leaves
-Rhubarb Leaves
-Leaves of pumpkin, zucchini or cucumbers
-Foliage of maize
-Foliage of beans
-Flower stems of flowers and herbs
Important! The green wastes for compost should be mold or mildew free!

Green waste dumps

Uncompostable green wastes

-All kinds of cabbage stumps
-Foliage of potato
-Weed seedlings
-Elytrigia repens, ground-elder, galium aparine, calystegia sepium, Jerusalem artichoke
-Stems of sunflowers
-Foliage of nettle
These wastes need to be treated carefully, since they may spread weeds or plant disease!

Large amount Green waste dump

In the garden units away from the faculty club,it is behind the berries cage. In the garden units near the faculty club, it is on the left of the green waste dump..

Last but not least , all the other kinds of waste (such as paper, plastic bag) mustn’t be thrown away in the garden.
